CBN (Cannabinol)
Pronunciation: /kan-uh-bih-NOL/
Definition
CBN is a mildly psychoactive cannabinoid that forms when THC ages and oxidizes.
CBN is found in trace amounts in fresh cannabis and accumulates as cannabis material ages and is exposed to heat and light. It's mildly psychoactive — far less than THC — and is often marketed for sleep support.
Research on CBN is limited. The popular association with sedation may have more to do with terpenes in aged cannabis than with CBN itself. Most CBN products are sold in 'sleep' formulations alongside CBD and melatonin.
