Why broad spectrum, not full
USADA, WADA, and most NCAA programs test for THC. Even trace amounts in full-spectrum CBD products can accumulate over weeks of consistent use and produce a positive result. Broad-spectrum CBD oils with verified zero THC are the practical choice for any tested athlete.
If you're running purely for personal goals and aren't drug-tested, full-spectrum is also fine and produces the strongest entourage effect. But broad-spectrum is the default for tested athletes.
How runners typically use it
Most of the runners we hear from use CBD in two places: 30-60 minutes before bed for sleep quality during heavy training blocks, and topically (the salve stick) for muscle recovery. A few use it 30 minutes pre-race for nerves; results vary.
Marathon training puts a real load on sleep — high mileage weeks, 5am long runs, dropping into bed exhausted but wired. CBD's sleep-quality angle is where most runners report meaningful difference, more than performance enhancement.
Arnica Infused Organic CBD Salve Stick
Topical CBD + arnica for the targeted post-run muscle and joint application most runners build into their routine.
FAQ
Will CBD make me fail a drug test before a race?
Broad-spectrum (THC-free) products like ours are formulated to contain zero detectable THC. Full-spectrum products contain trace THC and are NOT recommended for tested athletes.
Is CBD a 'performance enhancer'?
WADA removed CBD from its prohibited list in 2018. CBD itself is not classified as performance-enhancing. THC remains banned in-competition. Broad-spectrum CBD oils are formulated to comply.
When should I take it on race day?
If you've trained with it, race day isn't the day to introduce a new variable. Most runners who use CBD use it the night before for sleep, not race-morning.
