Plain-English explainers of every meaningful ingredient: cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, and the trace THC in our full-spectrum line), the terpenes that work with them, and the MCT carrier oil.
- CBG (Cannabigerol)A minor cannabinoid sometimes called "the mother cannabinoid" because the others (CBD, THC) develop from it. Trace amounts naturally appear in full-spectrum hemp extract.
- CBN (Cannabinol)A minor cannabinoid that forms slowly as THC oxidizes. Associated with sedation in early research and naturally present in aged full-spectrum extract.
- CBC (Cannabichromene)A minor cannabinoid researched for its potential role in inflammation pathways. Naturally present in trace amounts in full-spectrum hemp extract.
- CBDA (Cannabidiolic Acid)The acid form of CBD that the living hemp plant actually makes. Heat converts it to CBD — which is why a finished oil is labeled in milligrams of CBD, and why CBDA gets its own line on a lab report.
- TerpenesThe aromatic compounds that give every plant its distinctive smell. In hemp, they also play a role in the entourage effect alongside cannabinoids.
- MCT Oil (Medium-Chain Triglyceride Oil)The carrier oil in our tinctures. MCT improves CBD absorption and is gentle on the digestive system.
- Arnica (Arnica Montana)A flowering plant with a long history of topical use for muscle soreness and bruising.
- THC (Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol)The intoxicating cannabinoid in cannabis. Hemp makes a little of it too — federal law caps it at 0.3% by dry weight, which is why full-spectrum CBD contains trace THC and broad-spectrum doesn't.
- Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP)A spicy-smelling terpene found in black pepper, cloves, hops and hemp. It's the one common terpene known to bind a cannabinoid receptor (CB2), which is why researchers call it a "dietary cannabinoid."
- LimoneneLimonene is the terpene that makes citrus peel smell like citrus. It's also in hemp, so some hemp does have citrus notes. The FDA lists it as generally recognized as safe for use as a food flavoring.
- MyrceneAn earthy, musky terpene and the most common one in many hemp cultivars. It's also in mangoes, hops, thyme and lemongrass, and it's why a lot of hemp oil smells the way it does.
- LinaloolLinalool is a floral, lightly spicy terpene found in lavender, coriander, basil and hemp. It's the main reason lavender smells like lavender, and it shows up in hemp extract in small, batch-dependent amounts.
- Alpha-PineneAlpha-pinene is the terpene that makes pine needles smell like pine. It's also in rosemary and hemp, and it's one of the most common terpenes in nature.
- HumuleneHumulene is a woody, earthy, slightly hoppy terpene found in hops, sage, ginseng, clove, black pepper and hemp. It's named after hops (Humulus lupulus), where it was first identified.
- Peppermint Essential Oil (Fresh Mint flavor)Yes, mint CBD oil is flavored with real peppermint essential oil. In our Fresh Mint drops it is a small amount of steam-distilled peppermint oil, added to the hemp extract and MCT oil to cover the raw hemp taste.
- Lime Essential Oil (Peruvian Lime flavor)A citrus oil from lime fruit, made up mostly of limonene and other bright terpenes. It's what gives our Peruvian Lime drops their flavor, and it's added, not something the hemp makes.
- Natural Bacon Flavor (Pet Oil)The bacon flavor in our pet oil is a natural bacon flavor. It is there so dogs and cats will take the oil, and it is not a human flavoring.
- Organic Hemp Extract (Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum)Hemp extract is the concentrated oil pulled from hemp grown on partner farms. It carries CBD plus the plant's other cannabinoids and terpenes. Full-spectrum keeps trace THC (under 0.3%). Broad-spectrum has the THC removed.
- Coconut-Derived MCT Oil (Why Ours Is Coconut, Not Palm)Yes, the MCT carrier oil in our drops is coconut-derived, not palm-derived. MCT oil can be made from either coconut oil or palm kernel oil, and we chose coconut.
