Two ways to repeat an order
A subscription is set up once and then renews on its own schedule at a fixed discount. An agent reorder is the opposite: nothing is set up in advance, and instead your agent places a brand-new order — the same way it placed the first one — whenever you tell it to, or on whatever cadence you ask it to check in on. Both end up in the same place, a fresh bottle arriving on a schedule, but the mechanics and the math behind them are different enough to be worth comparing honestly.
The actual math
Subscribe and save takes 40% off every cycle, automatically, for as long as the subscription runs. A one-time order placed by an agent (or by you) can apply the code SQUARE for 30% off that single order. 40% is a bigger number than 30%, so cycle for cycle, the subscription is the cheaper way to buy the same bottle.
On the 1500 mg full-spectrum oil, list price $65.00: a subscription cycle comes to $39.00, while a one-time order with code SQUARE comes to $45.50. Free shipping is decided on the subtotal after the subscription discount but before a code: a one-time order qualifies once its list price reaches $99.00, while a subscription cycle qualifies once its discounted subtotal reaches $99.00, which takes about $165.00 of list price.
What subscribe and save doesn't give you is room to change your mind. Each cycle repeats the same product, strength and flavor you started with until you go into your account and change it. An agent reorder has no such constraint — every order is a new decision, so it's a completely reasonable place to switch strength, flavor, or even which product entirely, cycle to cycle.
The two never stack
A subscription order already carries its 40% discount on the line item itself. Applying code SQUARE on top of that order does not add a second discount — the checkout applies one or the other, never both combined. If an agent (or a person) ever sees a claim that the two stack into a bigger number, that claim is wrong.
What an agent reorder actually looks like
An agent reorder is just the ordinary checkout loop, run again on your instruction:
- Pick a bottle
Products, collections and the cart are public pages with no CAPTCHA or card field on them — the same pages a person's browser loads. Every product and variant is also published at /products.json, with strength, flavor and price generated from the same file the storefront renders and refreshed on each deploy.
- Check out with an email and a shipping address
Checkout asks for contact details and a shipping address. There is no card field on botancbd.com, no CAPTCHA, and no puzzle to solve.
- Pay on Square's hosted invoice page
We create a Square invoice for the order and forward you straight to its hosted payment page about a second and a half later; the confirmation page also shows the link as "Pay now on Square", and adding ?stay=1 to its URL keeps you on the order summary instead. Card details are entered there, on Square, never on our site — which is why a single-use virtual card works here the same way a person's card does.

The invoice itself carries the way back: its description reads "After paying, return to your order" with your order's own status-page link. The same link is in the confirmation email.
- Watch the order flip to paid
Once Square reports the payment, the order page shows "Paid — we're packing it" and links to the account, where the same order is listed.

Renewals, and how to cancel
A subscription cycle doesn't silently charge a card on file — each renewal arrives as its own fresh Square invoice, the same as a first order, and still needs someone (or an agent with a virtual card) to pay it. You can pause or cancel a subscription any time from your account's subscriptions page, no matter whether a person or an agent set it up in the first place.
