How to have Instinct order your CBD
What to text Instinct, and what to expect once it starts working on the order. Facts on this page are current as of September 2026.
No app — you just text it
Instinct comes from Spear Street Technology. There's nothing to install: you send it a text message or a voice note over SMS or WhatsApp, and it works from there — connecting to things like email, calendar and location when a task calls for them, and driving an ordinary web browser to complete the parts of a task that live on a website. As of September 2026 it remains invite-only, so not everyone reading this can try it today.
That text-first design is the whole point of Instinct: the interface is the conversation you're already having, not a separate app window you have to switch to. Telling it to order something is no different from telling it to check your calendar or draft a reply — the shopping part happens in the background, on the same browser it uses for everything else.
How it orders, and where it tends to get stuck
Instinct pays through Link by Stripe, the same rail Meta Muse uses: Link shows you the merchant and the amount, you approve it, and Link issues a one-time card scoped to that purchase. Instinct never handles the card number itself.
Its publicly documented failure modes are CAPTCHAs, two-factor prompts, phone-only flows, and brittle checkout pages generally — the ordinary ways a website built for a person, not a script, trips up an agent. botancbd.com has no CAPTCHA anywhere on the purchase path and no card field on the site itself (payment happens on Square's hosted page instead), which removes two of those four failure points before Instinct ever gets there.
- Pick a bottle
Products, collections and the cart are public pages with no CAPTCHA or card field on them — the same pages a person's browser loads. Every product and variant is also published at /products.json, with strength, flavor and price generated from the same file the storefront renders and refreshed on each deploy.
- Check out with an email and a shipping address
Checkout asks for contact details and a shipping address. There is no card field on botancbd.com, no CAPTCHA, and no puzzle to solve.
- Pay on Square's hosted invoice page
We create a Square invoice for the order and forward you straight to its hosted payment page about a second and a half later; the confirmation page also shows the link as "Pay now on Square", and adding ?stay=1 to its URL keeps you on the order summary instead. Card details are entered there, on Square, never on our site — which is why a single-use virtual card works here the same way a person's card does.

The invoice itself carries the way back: its description reads "After paying, return to your order" with your order's own status-page link. The same link is in the confirmation email.

Once Square reports the payment, the order page shows "Paid — we're packing it" and links to the account, where the same order is listed.

On the order page and in the confirmation email the control reads “Pay your invoice”. Opens Square's secure payment page. We never see your card. The same invoice is also on its way to your inbox.

The message to send it
A text-based agent works from the same kind of specific instruction a browser-based one does. This message names a real, in-stock product and a real discount code:

What to check when it comes back
Read the total it reports back before it pays, if it shows you one — the discount applied, the shipping cost or its absence above the free-shipping threshold, and the product and quantity. Once it says the order is placed, ask for the order number and the order's own status page, and open that link yourself rather than taking its word for the payment status. The page reflects reality directly from Square, independent of anything the agent tells you.
If it can't finish
If the one-time card is declined, nothing is charged and nothing is lost — the Square invoice simply stays open, and you can pay it yourself from the confirmation email whenever you're ready. If Instinct reports it's stuck at the payment step specifically, that's the moment to finish the last step by hand: the invoice link works exactly the same whether a person or an agent opens it.
