PCR Hemp Oil (Phytocannabinoid-Rich)
Also known as: PCR hemp extract, Phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil, PCR oil
PCR hemp oil is a hemp extract that is "phytocannabinoid-rich": a whole-plant extract holding CBD plus minor cannabinoids and other hemp compounds, and a label term used in place of the word "CBD".
PCR stands for phytocannabinoid-rich. Phytocannabinoids are the cannabinoids the hemp plant makes itself, and CBD is the most abundant. A PCR extract keeps CBD along with smaller amounts of others such as CBG, CBC and CBN, and usually terpenes and flavonoids too. The term is a marketing and labeling phrase, not a legal or scientific standard. No agency defines a minimum cannabinoid percentage for it. One explainer we read (biologyinsights.com, checked October 2026) calls it "essentially a marketing label", and we agree.
Brands use it because many retail platforms, payment processors and ad networks restrict the word CBD. "PCR hemp oil" or "hemp extract" lets a label describe the same ingredient without it. In practice it means what "full-spectrum" or "total-spectrum" means: the extract with the plant's cannabinoids left in, which includes trace THC at or under 0.3% delta-9 THC for hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill. Some brands also apply it to broad-spectrum extract with THC removed, so the label alone will not tell you which one you have. Our Arnica-Infused Organic CBD Salve Stick lists its 750mg as total-spectrum (PCR) hemp extract, so for us the two words describe one ingredient.
Do not confuse it with hemp seed oil. Seed oil is pressed from the seeds, is a food oil, and contains no meaningful cannabinoids. PCR oil comes from the flower and leaf, usually by CO2 extraction. To check what a PCR product really contains, ignore the front label and read the batch certificate of analysis: it lists each cannabinoid in milligrams and shows the THC result. Ours are at /coas, and a brand that cannot send one for your batch has not told you what is in the bottle.
