Does CBD belong in a cyclist's routine?

Most riders we hear from are not chasing watts. They want an evening habit after a long road ride, a gravel day, or a week of commuting in the rain. That is a routine question, and a small serving of drops is a reasonable thing to try if you want one.

Cycling Weekly's feature on the topic (checked October 2026) comes down on the sceptical side for performance and says plainly that research in this area is thin. We agree. Early research is early. CBD will not make you faster, and we would not sell it that way.

Tested events: THC is the problem, not CBD

USADA's page on cannabidiol (checked October 2026) says purified CBD is not prohibited in sport. It also says athletes should assume a CBD product may be a mixture that includes other prohibited cannabinoids, THC among them. Other cannabinoids and THC are prohibited in competition under the WADA list.

That is why we point event riders to broad-spectrum, where the THC is removed. Ask us for the COA that matches the batch number on your bottle. We cannot guarantee a result, and we are not a certified-for-sport brand. If you hold a licence or race under an anti-doping program, check with your governing body first. We did not verify cycling-specific rules beyond the USADA page.

A post-ride routine, in small servings

Most adults start at 10 to 25 mg, held under the tongue. The 500mg bottle is about 17 mg per full dropper, so a half to a full dropper covers it. Take it in the evening, keep it the same each day for two weeks, and change one thing at a time. Start low, go slow, and talk to your doctor, especially if you take other medications.

Our drops are hemp extract in organic coconut-derived MCT oil. We do not market them as nano CBD. Pick a flavor you will actually use: Natural, Fresh Mint, or Peruvian Lime. If the routine sticks, the 1,500mg bottle works out cheaper per mg.

The salve stick, and why the bottle stays off the bike

The 750mg arnica salve stick is a twist-up for skin only. Riders tend to reach for a stick like this at the knees and lower back after a long day. It is sold out as we write this, so we will not promise a ship date. Never use it on broken skin.

Do not carry a bottle in a jersey pocket, saddle bag, or hot car. Heat is hard on any oil-based product. Keep it cool, dark, and capped at home. Our routine is an after-ride habit, not something you take on the bike or before a ride.

What to check on any bottle

Look for a batch number, a third-party COA, and the THC line. Every batch of ours is tested, and the report is on request and at /coas. Compare price per mg, not price per bottle: our 6,000mg broad-spectrum works out to about $0.0275 per mg.

We ship all four of our products to all 50 states. States set their own CBD rules, so check /cbd-laws if you travel to events. We are a family-owned shop in Cincinnati, and if a product is not a fit for your situation, we will say so.

FAQ

What is the best CBD for cyclists?

For most riders, a THC-free broad-spectrum oil taken under the tongue after the ride, with a batch COA you can read. Our THC-free broad-spectrum drops fit that. Start with the 500mg bottle and a small serving, and talk to your doctor.

Is CBD allowed in competitive cycling?

USADA says purified CBD is not prohibited in sport (checked October 2026), but THC is prohibited in competition and CBD products can contain other cannabinoids. If you race under anti-doping rules, choose a THC-free product and check with your governing body. We cannot guarantee a test result.

Will CBD improve my cycling performance?

We do not claim it will. Research on CBD and athletic performance is early and the sports-science coverage we read (Cycling Weekly, checked October 2026) is sceptical. We offer it as an optional evening routine, not a training aid.

Can I take CBD drops on the bike?

We would not. Heat in a pocket or bag is hard on an oil, and a new serving is a variable you do not want mid-ride. Keep the bottle at home and use it after the ride.

Is the arnica salve stick in stock?

No. The 750mg arnica CBD salve stick currently reads sold out, so check the product page for status. It is for skin only and never on broken skin.

How much CBD should a cyclist take?

Most adults start at 10 to 25 mg. On our 500mg bottle, a full dropper is about 17 mg. Begin with a small serving, keep it steady for two weeks, and check with your doctor first.
