Pick botanCBD if…
  • You want the lowest price per mg and a bottle up to 6,000mg
  • You want a full spectrum oil in a small, cheap bottle to try first
  • You like Fresh Mint or Peruvian Lime flavored with real essential oil

  • You want a wide menu of formats beyond oil, such as gummies and softgels
  • You are happy to pay list price at 2,250mg and under, or wait for a sale

The organic question, answered straight

Joy Organics sells tinctures that carry the USDA organic seal. Its tincture pages say the products are USDA Certified Organic "from seed to bottle" (joyorganics.com, checked October 2026). That is a third-party audit of the farm and the facility, and we do not have it.

We describe our hemp as organically cultivated on our Kentucky and Ohio farms. That is a description of how it is grown. It is not a certification and we do not put a seal on the bottle. Our oils also use organic coconut-derived MCT oil and non-GMO additives, but the finished product is not USDA certified.

If an organic seal matters to you, or to a household member who asks to see it, that settles it for Joy. If it matters less than strength and price, keep reading.

Price per mg, with the sale caveat

Joy's 2,250mg tincture is listed at $89.95, which is $0.040 per mg. Our top tier, 6,000mg broad spectrum at $165, is $0.0275 per mg. Our 1,500mg full spectrum at $65 is about $0.043 per mg.

When we checked on joyorganics.com in October 2026, the product page showed a sitewide sale price of $62.96 on that same 2,250mg bottle, which is $0.028 per mg and close to our top tier. Joy's 1,350mg was $48.96 against a $69.95 list price. Sales come and go, so read the price on the day you buy, then divide it by the milligrams.

Joy stops at 2,250mg. If you take larger servings, the bottle ceiling matters more than the sale price, because you will go through bottles faster.

Carrier oil, flavor and what is in the bottle

Joy's unflavored tincture lists two ingredients: organic olive oil and organic broad spectrum hemp extract. The page says Joy chose olive oil over MCT or coconut oil. Ours is hemp extract in organic coconut-derived MCT oil, taken under the tongue. We do not market our drops as nano CBD.

Our flavors come from real essential oil (Fresh Mint or Peruvian Lime), and Natural has none. Joy's tincture menu is wider on fruit flavors, with Summer Lemon, Orange Bliss, Tropical and others. Taste is personal; if you dislike an earthy olive-oil note or a coconut note, that may decide it before price does.

Spectrum, testing and who makes it

Both brands sell a full spectrum oil with trace THC under 0.3% and a THC-free broad spectrum oil. Joy's page lists its broad spectrum at 0.0% THC; ours reads ND or below the limit of quantitation on the lab report. Our full vs broad spectrum guide explains the difference.

Both publish batch reports. Joy puts a QR code on each bottle and says it has offered transparent lab testing since its 2018 founding (checked October 2026). We test every batch through a third-party lab and post reports at /coas. Either way, match the batch number on the bottle to the report before you trust the milligrams.

Both are family-owned. That tells you who answers the email, not how good the oil is. The lab report and price per mg tell you that.

Which one should you buy?

Buy Joy if the USDA seal is non-negotiable, you like olive oil as a carrier, or you want a gummy or softgel from the same brand. Buy ours if you want a 6,000mg bottle, a full spectrum oil from $30, or the lowest price per mg at list price.

Most adults start at 10 to 25 mg per serving and adjust slowly, whichever bottle they choose. Talk to your doctor first, especially if you take medication.

FAQ

Is Joy Organics USDA certified organic?

Joy's tincture pages say its tinctures are USDA Certified Organic from seed to bottle (joyorganics.com, checked October 2026). Check the label on the exact product you buy, since Joy also sells items beyond its tinctures.

Is botanCBD USDA certified organic?

No. botanCBD hemp is organically cultivated on Kentucky and Ohio farms, which describes how it is grown. It is not a USDA certification, and we do not put a seal on our bottles.

Is botanCBD cheaper than Joy Organics?

At list price, usually yes per mg. Our 6,000mg broad spectrum is $0.0275 per mg; Joy's 2,250mg is $0.040 per mg at $89.95. When Joy ran a sale in October 2026 ($62.96 for 2,250mg, about $0.028 per mg) the gap nearly closed. Divide the price you see by the milligrams.

Are botanCBD and Joy Organics both family-owned?

Yes. botanCBD is a family-owned Cincinnati store. Joy Organics describes itself as a family-owned business on its product pages (checked October 2026).

Do Joy Organics and botanCBD both lab test their CBD?

Yes, both use third-party testing. Joy puts a QR code on each bottle that opens that batch's report. We test every batch, and reports are on request and at /coas. Match the batch number on your bottle to the report.

What carrier oil does each brand use?

Joy's unflavored tincture uses organic olive oil with hemp extract. botanCBD oils use organic coconut-derived MCT oil with hemp extract, plus real essential oil for the Fresh Mint and Peruvian Lime flavors.

Which has stronger bottles, botanCBD or Joy Organics?

botanCBD goes up to 6,000mg per 30 mL bottle in broad spectrum. Joy's tinctures top out at 2,250mg (checked October 2026). Strength is only meaningful next to price and the lab report.
