Updated How we edit these guides
Organic Hemp Extract (Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum) appears in Full Spectrum, THC Free Broad Spectrum, Arnica Infused Organic CBD Salve Stick, AAFCO Approved Bacon Flavor.

What it is

Organic hemp extract is the active ingredient in every oil we make. It starts with hemp grown on our Kentucky and Ohio farms, organically cultivated, and it is concentrated into a thick extract before it is blended into an organic coconut-derived MCT carrier oil. The extract is not the same thing as the MCT oil, and it is not the same thing as hemp seed oil from the grocery aisle. Seed oil is pressed from seeds and is a cooking and skin-care ingredient. The extract comes from the flower, which is where the cannabinoids and terpenes live.

Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum are two versions of the same extract. The American Herbal Products Association's hemp lexicon, as covered by FoodNavigator-USA in 2022 (checked October 2026), defines full-spectrum as processed without intentionally removing compounds, with a final THC of no more than 0.3%. It defines broad-spectrum as processed to remove THC so that it is non-detectable by a compliant lab. Those terms had been stretched, so it helps that there is now a written definition. Ours follow it. Our full-spectrum drops carry trace THC under 0.3%. Our broad-spectrum drops have the THC removed, and the batch lab report reads ND or below the limit of quantitation.

What is in it: CBD is the main cannabinoid. Depending on the batch, you can also find minor cannabinoids such as CBG, CBN and CBC, along with terpenes like beta-caryophyllene, which give the oil its smell. Those minor compounds are why people pick whole-plant extracts over a single-compound product. The honest part is that the mix changes with the harvest, and we will not quote a minor-cannabinoid percentage we have not seen on that batch's report. Ask us for the batch COA, or look at /coas, and read the lab's own numbers.

FAQ

What is organic hemp extract?

It is the concentrated oil taken from organically cultivated hemp flower. It contains CBD, other cannabinoids and terpenes. Ours comes from hemp grown on our Kentucky and Ohio farms and is blended into organic coconut-derived MCT oil for the drops.

What is the difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum hemp extract?

Full-spectrum keeps the plant's compounds as they are, including trace THC under 0.3%. Broad-spectrum has the THC removed so a lab reads it as non-detectable. Pick broad-spectrum if you want zero THC, for example if you are drug tested. Ask your employer or testing program about their policy first.

Is hemp extract the same as hemp seed oil?

No. Hemp seed oil is pressed from seeds and does not carry meaningful CBD. Hemp extract comes from the flower. Check the label: if it only says hemp seed oil and lists no CBD or cannabinoid amount, it is not the same product.

Do you add CBD isolate to your oils?

The way to check any brand on that question, ours included, is the batch lab report: it lists every cannabinoid the lab found, so a whole-plant extract shows CBD alongside the minor cannabinoids and terpenes. Ask us for the COA for your batch number, or look at /coas, and read the lab's own numbers.

Why does the cannabinoid mix change from batch to batch?

It is a plant product. Harvest timing, weather and the crop change the minor cannabinoids and terpenes. That is why we publish a third-party COA for every batch and point you to it instead of quoting one fixed profile.
