AAFCO-Approved Bacon Flavoring (Pet Oil)
Also known as: natural bacon flavor, pet-safe bacon flavor, bacon-flavored pet CBD oil
What it is
Bacon flavoring for pets is not the same thing as bacon, and it is not the same thing as the flavorings in human food. Pet-food flavors are made and labeled for animal products, and the word "natural" on them has a defined meaning. AAFCO, the association that publishes ingredient definitions used by U.S. state feed regulators, describes natural as derived solely from plant, animal or mined sources, without chemically synthetic additives. It also lets a label use "natural" for one named ingredient, as in "natural cheese flavor." One caveat we want you to have: AAFCO publishes definitions, it does not sign off on individual products. "AAFCO-approved" on our label means the flavor is made to meet those pet-food ingredient definitions.
Why bother with flavor at all? Because a pet oil only works as a routine if your animal will take it. Hemp extract in MCT oil tastes like hemp, and plenty of dogs and nearly every cat will notice. A bacon flavor lets you put the dropper on a bit of food or offer it directly. For comparison, one flavor supplier's own page (Apex Flavors, checked October 2026) describes its oil-soluble bacon-type natural flavor as vegan, with no meat protein or animal by-products, and says it is suitable for CBD tinctures. We do not know whether our supplier's flavor is built the same way, so we will not say it is.
The part we care about most is what is not in the bottle. Human essential oils, including the mint and lime we use in our people drops, are the wrong choice for pets, and cats in particular are sensitive to many of them. That is why the pet oil is its own product with its own flavor, not a relabeled bottle of ours. Start low, go slow, and talk to your veterinarian before you begin.

FAQ
Is the bacon flavoring in pet CBD oil real bacon?
No, not as far as we can tell. Pet bacon flavors are usually natural flavor blends, and some suppliers sell versions with no meat protein or animal by-products at all. Ours is a flavoring for palatability, not a meat ingredient. If your pet has a food allergy, ask your veterinarian and check the product page before you start.
Is bacon-flavored CBD oil okay for cats?
Our pet oil is made for both dogs and cats, 0.0% THC, and the flavor is pet-food grade. Cats are different animals from dogs, though, so start with a very small serving and ask your veterinarian first. Never give a cat a human CBD oil.
Can my dog have your human mint or lime oil instead?
No. Our people drops are flavored with real mint or lime essential oil, and many essential oils are not safe for pets. Use the pet oil, which is made and flavored for animals.
Does "AAFCO-approved" mean AAFCO approved the product?
Not exactly. AAFCO publishes ingredient definitions that state regulators use. It does not approve individual products. On our label it means the bacon flavor is made to meet pet-food ingredient definitions.
Does the flavor change how much CBD is in a dropper?
No. The pet oil is 500mg of broad-spectrum hemp extract, 16.7 mg/mL, and the flavor is only there for taste. Your veterinarian can help you pick a serving size for your animal's weight.
